As predicted, I had a really hard time selecting the three finalists for my Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud contest. It wasn’t because I didn’t have enough entries.
I had 18 entries as a matter of fact.
That means 18 people took the time, energy, and effort to come up with an idea and actually create a video for me. That’s completely awesome. And thank you to all of you that got excited and entered, or commented, or tweeted, or just generally showed enthusiasm for the contest. I had so much fun and loved watching everyone’s videos.
But alas, I did have to select only 3 videos to move on to the final selection round. Thank God for my judging committee. We all liked different videos for different reasons. So I created a scoring scale.
We judged every video on a 3 point scale:
Originality 1 to 3 pts.
Creativity 1 to 3 pts.
Adherence to the theme 1 to 3 pts.
My son, Evan, couldn’t quite grasp the scale so he assigned every video a single score:
1 = didn’t really like it
2 = liked it a little
3 = liked it a lot
In the end, the scores made it easier for us to pick the winners. I’m proud to announce the following 3 videos are my FINALISTS!! Congratulations!

However, I truly enjoyed watching ALL of the videos and I hope you get a chance to watch them too. In my heart, I’d love to give every single one of these people a new mattress. Or new pillows, at the very least. Here are the videos that didn’t make the cut but what I loved about each one.
Jo was the first one to enter. That takes guts! For those of you who went to BlogHer ’10 and heard rumors of someone breaking their arm, that was Jo. And that’s why she needs a good night’s sleep. Poor thing! Maybe I’ll bake her some chocolate chip cookies or something.
Next came Maria Melee, who most of us know and love. Like many of us, she’s just plain exhausted from being a working mom and has a 10 year old bed in need of replacing. I know she will find another Tempur-Pedic contest to enter so she can finally get her good night’s sleep.
Then, my friend Robin entered. With 2 kids under the age of 4, she shows that she’s really envious of her sleeping baby. Because she wants to sleep just like a baby and get a good night’s rest.
I loved the video from Andrea (Lil Kid Things). She claimed 60 seconds wasn’t enough to tell me why she needs a good night’s sleep. So she used some fast action video to show how hard it is to keep up with her toddler, her laundry, her blog, her dishes, her Twittering, and her Scentsy business. Yes, I was exhausted after 60 seconds too.
Next came Erica to show us that Mommy is still Fabulous. Although I’m not sure how because her little toddler seems to like to run in circles. A lot. I think I would need to fall into bed after that and definitely get a good night’s sleep.
Ahhh, Paige. You made us laugh out loud. We loved this video. I’m sure many of us can related to her bedroom situation, and not in a good way. I think she needs more than one bed to get a good night’s sleep!
Then came the lovely Kym, who I met in Asheville at Type-A Mom. She has 7 kids. I’m not exactly sure how that happened. I loved the originality here. Her family pleaded for a new bed for a “Harried Lady” a la The Brady Bunch. With 7 kids, she might need more than a new bed for a good night’s sleep.
I finally convinced my virtual little sis Nichole to show me what she’s got. Her video shows us that she’s NOT a morning person and that her kids like to be loud. We were all ready for a good night’s sleep after that.
How appropriate that someone named Angie entered the contest? (Okay, that’s another lame Rolling Stones reference). Angie captured my heart because she not only shares her bed with her husband, and sometimes her teenage son, but she makes room for some BIG dogs. She definitely needs a good night’s sleep (when she can get it).
Now, if you want to see Maricris in her zombie-like moments when she doesn’t get a good night’s sleep, you better do it quick. She claims she’s going to delete her video so as not to suffer from continuing embarrassment. I think you’ll be THRILLED to watch it.
And introducing muliebrity. She’s a self-proclaimed video novice and I give her total kudos for jumping right in. I totally feel for her and hope she finds a way to get a Tempur-Pedic bed because it will give her a good night’s sleep.
Next, we found Tannia sleeping in her son’s room. Even if she didn’t tell us that, I probably would have guessed by the Curious George over her head. Her son apparently has exquisite tastes when it comes to sleeping but it’s really mom and dad that need the good night’s sleep.
And we can all probably relate to Clair. Although she has years before life will start to wear her down, her back is subjected to a dorm mattress every night. In fact, that may be where all my problems started. This Southern belle truly needs a good night’s sleep so she can maintain her southern hospitality.
Finally, my good friend Gina who I would love to give the bed to simply because she’s my good friend. This poor thing can go days on end without sleep because of her medical conditions. She even had the Tempur-Pedic salesman rooting for her to get a good night’s sleep.

Now do you see why this was so hard? Everyone took so much time, effort, and creativity. I’d love for you to leave comments on which videos you loved. Who knows? Maybe Tempur-Pedic will let me give another bed away
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED!!!
