Prepare to be STUNNED! AMAZED! STUPEFIED!!
…on someone else’s blog.
I have to admit that my day wasn’t anything spectacular. It was just a casual Wednesday. My husband was gone all day and Evan was off to his sitter’s house for the day. A full day. All to myself. It’s a workday, I tell myself. But I’m working at home and I’m not always as productive as I’d like to be. It turns out Wednesday provided much fewer pictures, simply because I didn’t have a lot for me to take pictures of.
But it’s real. So here goes: another day in a week in my life.
This is the way a Wednesday starts, not with a bang but a whimper. My husband was up and out for an early morning flight so Evan and I had a little chill time. He spent his time watching Mickey Mouse. I spent mine finishing up my Tuesday post.
Wait a minute. It looks like I’m goofing off on FACEBOOK!
After a little too long, we’re a little too hungry and we head downstairs. It’s the first official day our house is off the market and I come down to mess. And I don’t even care. And the sad part is this picture doesn’t even look that messy but in my conditioned real estate brain, I see so many things out of place.
Time for an early breakfast. Evan is the pickiest eater ever. Sometimes I can get him to eat cereal. I mean, what kid doesn’t like cereal? I made it part of my wholesome breakfast. Cheerios, strawberries, and a spot of tea.
Back upstairs to get ready for the day. I plan to wear workout clothes, you know, just in case I get the urge (BTW, I didn’t). My husband, who lovingly does most of the laundry, made me smile. He has unintentionally hung Evan’s night shirt and pair of his jeans in my pants section. Love you, honey, but we both know I’m not that small.
I do my best to get ready but I am so hating my hair today. I pull it back to try and look sort of sporty and realize my hair is thinning and I wasn’t meant to wear my hair pulled back. I think I’m giving myself the evil eye here. In desperation, I call my hair salon and my stylist IS available. I drop off the kid and head for some serious help.
I think Michelle thought it was weird that I kept snapping random pics but she’s starting to learn that my phone goes with me everywhere. I once participated in a Twitter party while getting my hair done.
I let her work her magic. I love it. I’m weary of straight up bangs but my hair likes to fall forward ALL THE TIME. Why fight it? I feel like I can better face the day. Maybe I’ll even do that vlog I was thinking about.
Oh snap. Look at me vlogging. I recently had a fabulous experience at med spa and I’m doing a video about it (look for it week after next). But sometimes I think that if some CSI team came into my house, they might think I do some pretty weird stuff. Which I kind of do, just not THAT kind of weird.
Then I spend the rest of the afternoon on the bed with my laptop. Emma requires a little bit of playtime and I have to confess that these little Corolla dolls I got from some conferences this year make GREAT little toys for her. She has no teeth and there are lots of soft areas for her to grip. Seems a bit sadistic but I have fun telling her to “get the baby.”
And a few hours later… still sitting on the bed with my laptop. This picture was intended to capture how I felt: like a schlub. I don’t think it was but trust me, it was not one of my more productive days.
Time to go pick up Evan! He’s usually waiting out front with the other kids. I love how all the kids light up when they see me. However, I’m pretty sure they just want to see my cool car and/or Emma, who usually rides with me.
I snapped a picture of him once we got going but I have to note that this was taken before I told him, once again, that, NO, we were not going to McDonald’s for dinner. He still tries to convince me he just wants to go there for the food. Yeah, right, kid.
Since it was just the two of us for dinner, I did relent and make him a peanut butter and honey sandwich. And then I made him some Mexican hot chocolate with whipped cream to go along with it. I think he was going to cry from happiness. As for me, I’m still attempting to eat sort of healthy. Or non-fattening anyway. My gourmet dinner was ramen noodles with a spiced chickpea package mixed in for protein and flavor.
As I’m thinking about our next moves with our house, I decide to take someone’s advice and buy some neutral bedding for my bedroom. I have to dig out the $50 gift card I won at BlogHer for HSN.com. Turns out I don’t really like HSN.com. But I got a decent deal on some Nate Berkus bedding and in rifling through this mess, I found a $50 Visa gift card I forgot I had. SCORE!
After our fascinating evening, I told Evan I’d play some video games with him. We played one too many rounds of Mario Kart and then off he went to the bath. Yes, that is my foot strategically placed in the shot.
By this time of the day, I was done with having my hair down. I threw it up in a loop and took a pic to send my husband so he could see exactly what I did to my hair (he approves).
Evan and I had long talks about the human body and got on the subject of organ transplants. We read his Disney book on the human body and closed out the evening with Good Boy, Fergus by David Shannon. A few scratches of the back and he was out. Yes, he actually fell asleep with his foot in the air.
I fell asleep too and woke back up to a second wind. I took a bath and got the pets ready for bed and saw that Evan was keeping my husband’s side of the bed nice and warm for him.
Tomorrow should be a pretty rough day. Evan has preschool again and I’m headed off for a massage. I might even go out for dinner. Yes, I like to live dangerously.
