I’m no fashion maven but occasionally I like to dress up and pretend that I am. And I’ll admit that I’ve found a scarf and some hoop earrings can make just about any outfit look just right. Even the dreaded white shirt.
I say dreaded because when you think of a white shirt, you think of a classic button up blouse. Or at least I do. I mean, every woman is supposed to have staples in their closet like good-fitting jeans, a black blazer, a crisp white shirt. Except I don’t have that white shirt. Or I didn’t until I was asked to do this review.
I never really thought too much about why I hate blouses until InStyle Essentials walked into my inbox with an offer to review a shirt.
Here’s what intrigued me:
- Touted as the “perfect white shirt collection”
- Three styles: Classic button-front, Bow blouse, Weekend tunic
- TrioFit technology
And now you’re saying TrioFit technology? Isn’t that just marketing speak to make you think these shirts are awesome? Yes. Yes, it is. But the beauty is what TrioFit means. You actually order your shirt size based on your bra size.
That’s right. No more small, medium, large. You order based on your band size and your cup size. That means you get a shirt that is proportioned to you. And if you are a little, ahem, large on the top, that means no more buttons being pulled side to side. And if you are a bit smaller, it means that you won’t be swimming in a shirt that doesn’t flatter you.
But seeing is believing so I asked my darling husband to do his best with photography and capture some shots showing just how perfect this white shirt can be.
(Please excuse my heavy reliance on PicMonkey for these photos. Either my camera, the lighting, or my husband was off their game.)
I chose the Weekend Tunic because I’m a relaxed and casual kind of gal. Also, I don’t do bows.
The view from the rear shows that the blouse does actually follow my curves while nicely playing the part of a tunic and covering the view of the rear.
But when would you wear this white shirt? What would you do with this white shirt? Instead of just posing for some fashion shots, I thought I’d give you some ideas of how you can incorporate this white shirt into your everyday life.
The white shirt is perfect for an evening at home with your husband while sipping on a lovely glass of red wine.
Wait. Maybe we should make that white wine just to be safe.
It’s also the perfect shirt to wear when you have painting to do in the second story of your foyer. The shirt moves with ease as I climb up and down the ladder.
Then again, unless you’re painting with white, this may not be the best idea.
Finally. The perfect activity for a white shirt. Sit perfectly still on the stairs reading the latest Crate & Barrel catalog.
And pretend like you’re not sitting on your son’s dirty socks.
In all seriousness, I would buy this shirt/blouse on my own. The price tag isn’t cheap, though. Each shirt will run you about $59.99 but if you’re looking for one good quality staple for your closet that actually fits, this is worth the investment.
Now I’m curious. If you were to pick one of the three styles, which one would YOU choose?
(And hey! It’s Fashion Friday so I linked up with Julie at julieverse.com where you can see lots of other lovely fashion ideas!)
Thanks to InStyle Essentials for providing me with my choice of style from their Perfect White Shirt Collection. All opinions here are my own.
