I know you’re probably out there looking for some last minute Christmas ideas. You want something fun for the whole family AND family friendly. You read my review of Just Dance 3 and loved it. You put it on your Christmas list. And yet, you still felt something was missing.
I was noticeably absent from my Just Dance 3 review video for good reason. I can’t dance. Well, I mean I can especially if you show me the exact steps to do. I can do them. I just run into a few problems. My hips seem to be made of concrete and I look like Frankenstein cutting a rug.
And yet, when I was invited to host a dance party to review ABBA You Can Dance, I didn’t hesitate.
What’s a little old school dancing in the privacy of my home? Except that I was among friends and I captured it all on video.
Here’s how the evening went down, as told through pictures and video.
Every good party starts with the food. For a 70s kind of night, I went with upscale retro. Like cocktail weinies and Christmas cupcakes.
I decorated for the theme party as well. And by decorate, I mean, I turned off the lights and turned on a disco ball. Totally sets the dancing scene. Trust me.
Then I did my best to get my 70s groove on. I tried in vain to feather my hair but I think I achieved a 70s high school party girl look, complete with my black ABBA t-shirt.
Then my friends came over. I never really called it a theme party but I love that some of my friends decided to play it up anyway.
Food, drink (yes, there was plenty of that), friends… there was nothing left to do but dance, dance, dance.
But, Fadra, you say, I don’t get a sense of what this game is really like. Did you enjoy it? Was it fun? Did you make a fool of yourself? The answers are yes, yes, and yes. And I’ve got the video to prove it.
(sorry for the dimly lit video quality)
The Real Review
I love ABBA music. The game featured most of my favorite songs but also had plenty of songs I’ve never heard. It didn’t feel like it was much of a workout as some of the other Just Dance games, which is okay. I don’t always need to get super sweaty when I’m having fun. And the dance moves are very appropriate for the music. In other words, you probably won’t want to bust out any of these moves next time you’re at the club.
With that said, I’ve never met a woman who doesn’t like to imagine herself as the Dancing Queen. Next time my mother comes to visit, we’ll definitely be blasting it and dancing throughout the house once again.
