My son is nine years old and he’s never been to the circus. That doesn’t seem that unusual in this day and age but when I was growing up, it was a very big deal.
Every year, that BIG circus (you know the one) would come to town and it would either be the red circus or the blue circus but I’d take whichever one I could! I marveled at the sequined costumes of the trapeze artists and cheered as the elephants marched around the ring. And I ate so much cotton candy, I surely went home with a stomachache.
But times change and so do my opinions about involving animals in entertainment. And for that reason, we never went to the BIG circus.
All that is about to change when UniverSoul Circus comes to town!
UniverSoul Circus is a traveling circus seen by over 20 million people to date and might be coming to a city near you!
If you’re in the Baltimore area, the circus will be performing at Security Square Mall from June 1-12 (we’ll be there the evening of June 7th!).
If you’re in the Washington, DC area, you’ll find the circus at National Harbor from June 29-July 21.
And because I still love all my Raleigh friends, you can look for the circus in Greensboro from June 21-26.
Here’s a glimpse of what we’re excited to see.
When I showed my son, he saw motorcycles and dogs and was SOLD. But for me, I was more interested in the cultural side of this circus which brings performers from places like Ethiopia, Trinidad & Tobago, and South Africa not only entertaining but sharing some of their heritage as well.
Now you know as much as I do about UniverSoul Circus but we’re pretty excited to finally make it to the circus. In fact, they list their animal rights policy right on their website.
What I really want to know, though, is… will they have cotton candy? Some things are just requirements at the circus!
I’ll be attending the Baltimore UniverSoul Circus with my family as guests. Please follow along with the excitement as I share our visit with you using #BestCircusEver and #UniverSoulCircus.
