That blog – the one that was four years in the making – is this blog right here. It was only a few short weeks ago that I realized my very first blog post was published on 9/9/09. That’s got to be significant, right?
It’s fun for me to go back and look at what I wrote four years ago and realize that it’s not as horrible as it could be. In fact, if you read my very first post (that was originally published on Blogger), I wrote about the theme of my blog. Four years later and I’m happy to say I’ve been pretty consistent in that I don’t HAVE a theme. I just write as I go.
But four years is a long time to keep chugging away at the same thing. And normally I’m not one for commemorating occasions that have no meaning to anyone else but me but I felt like this year, I just had to say something. Like…
But honestly, that just doesn’t feel right. Too self-congratulatory. And what does it really mean anyway? It’s more about the work that’s gone into this blog.
Now I realize that some people get these kinds of numbers in one month. But for me, in four years time, I’m pretty happy with the people I’ve reached.
Still, though, this doesn’t feel like how I want to celebrate. I really feel like it’s more about the readers that have clicked over to my little ol’ blog and maybe even read a few things. So I’m dedicating this post to all of you. And to help me, I’m going to refer to my animal instincts on this.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my readers who have come and gone (but mostly those that have come and stayed) for reading my words and sharing my life.
Thank you for making me excited to get out there and explore the world around me.
Thank you for letting me share it all with you every week.
Sometimes I feel apprehensive about my blog.
But mostly I feel joy as a dedicated and loyal companion to all of you.
Thanks for making these past four years some of the most amazing times I’ve had in my life. You’ll never know how happy this work makes me or how fulfilled I feel. You’ll never know how thrilled I still feel every time I get a comment. You’ll never know how honored I feel to have you join me in my little corner of the internet.
Okay. Enough sappiness. I’ve made my point. Here’s to another four years of whatever social media brings. And here’s hoping that really cute dog pictures bring in a lot of traffic.
