This week’s Capture the Everyday theme: Something you like to snack on
Man, I need to make a confession. I am totally a snacker. I love snacks. If you ever invite me to dinner and you set out a few little bowls to snack on before dinner is ready, they’ll be gone in no time. Think little bowls of nuts. Think cheese and crackers. I hover around the food. It’s a known fact.
When it comes to the movies, either at the theater or at home, I’ll settle down with popcorn. My attention is focused almost entirely on the popcorn until it is completely gone. If I’m at the theater and it’s loaded up with buttery goodness, it happens even faster.
My husband and I have been known to have a meal of snacks. We make a smorgasbord of appetizers and finger foods: cheeses, spreads, potstickers, crackers, dips. We do it because we’re usually “not that hungry” but the reality is we eat our weight in snacks and probably end up fuller than we would have been with a regular meal.
And how about going out for Mexican food? Our waistlines will show that this is a favorite of ours and one that we indulge at least once every two weeks, if not more (hanging my head in shame). The problem isn’t just the cheesy, saucy goodness they set before us.
It’s the chips.
You know that party behavior I mentioned at the beginning of this post? That’s me in front of chips and salsa. Do NOT get your hand too close to that basket of chips or you will get hurt. With that said, it should come as no surprise that one of my favorite snacks is…
…chips and guacamole.
What do you like to snack on?
It may seem like a silly thing to photograph but even your tastes (and in my case, my countertops) change over the years. This Capture the Everyday assignment is helping to creating your own personal picture and history!

Black pepper potato chips. (Specifically Cape Cod, when I can find them.) I will eat a whole bag like it’s my job.

Black Pepper = yuck. But I love the extra greasy, salty, crispness of Cape Cod chips!
I am like you, I love snacks. All snacks. One of my favorites is either wheat thins or triscuits with some salami, sharp cheddar cheese or provolone with some green olives or kalamata. Oh oh and if you take a piece of salami put on a little bit of cream cheese, roll it up, stick a toothpick in it and place a green olive on top. So good! I also love bean dip. I make it at home.
And now I am hungry LOL
Oh, I LOVE whole grain wheat thins. I eat them with brie all the time. Or lobster spread. Or hummus. Someone else in the meme wrote just about olives!
Chips and guacamole are definite fave. What do I like to snack on? It depends. I used to love Sardines and Crackers when I was a child. Now? Steamed Shrimp 🙂
I’m weird.
No to sardines. And no to shrimp. But clearly, you and my husband would get a long great.
The ONLY thing my ex husband could make was guacamole and it was INCREDIBLE.
I would polish it off, all of it myself if I could.
heh
that is all
Unfortunately I did not make this (I do make great guac) but this is about the best you cab buy in the store: Wholly Guacamole!
I am like you. In fact Laverne and I will go out just for appitizers! We have a blast. It is so much fun trying little bits of everything. Our Fav. place to go is Big Bowl. Love Thai food!
Oh I LOVE Thai food. One of my favorite apps is fried tofu!
I LOVE guar and homemade chips, but my stand by snack is roasted chickpeas. I am addicted!
Wait, what? I don’t know about roasted chickpeas. I need to know more!!!
Total snacker here too! I love snacks and rather eat a meal made of snacks than an actual meal!!
Ooh. Let’s do dinner sometime! Tell me when you’re back in NC!
I am most definitely a snacker, too. 🙂 I don’t know that I have a favorite, though.
My fave definitely changes from week to week. Guac just happened to be what we had in the house that I was snacking on today 😉
I *LOVE” chips, but can not do guacamole. I’m more of a salsa girl I guess. Great pic.
Have you TRIED guacamole? It’s like the fruit of the gods. But that’s okay. I like salsa too. Usually the fresh made kind from scratch (usually called pico de gallo).
Ohhhh guacamole! And chips! This post totally makes me hungry. Might have to send the hubs to the store. Right now. 🙂
Ahhh, to be pregnant again… 🙂
Oh, guacamole. I love it. Funny enough I thought it looked gross until I moved to Phoenix. Then, I was sad for all the years I neglected to eat it.
I never had it until I was an adult. Never had anything to do with avocados until I was an adult. I had a very limited food upbringing. Trying to make up for it now.
guac and chips, hummus and chips, chocolate chips, almonds, any kind of salad sitting in endive leaves, oh my getting hungry now!
Reminds me of my wedding. I think we had “Crabmeat salad in leaves of endive.” I just remember it sounded very fancy.
mmmmm, salty chips and guac. Total yummyness!
I LOVE guacamole. Unfortunately, avocado makes me break out so I don’t eat it as much as I’d like to.
I’m a big ice cream junkie, but I generally prefer salty snacks.
Oh yeah. I’m a salty girl, for sure. Right before bed every night, I need something salty. Or when I’m drinking wine. Or beer. Not that I drink that much. But just to be sure, define “that much”?
Wrong person to ask! I have maybe a beer/night and I feel like a lush sometimes.
Mmm we’re all about the snacks (and appetizers!) at our house, too!
As for my favorite snack? Hmm..
As a treat: Salt and vinegar chips (Don’t judge.)
On the regular: Apples and peanut butter. (Except for the mess factor.)
And what I want my kids to think: Carrots. (Again: Don’t judge.)
oohhhhh looks yummy! it’s very hard for us to get mexican food here… perhaps we’re just too far away. 🙂
