BB Cream Demystified: Can Beauty Come in a Balm?

Let’s get down to business right away.

BB stands for Beauty Balm, or sometimes called Blemish Balm. It’s a trend in skincare/makeup (in care you hadn’t heard). But do we need another damn product? Especially one that can do it all (meaning: hydrates, corrects, evens and perfects your skin)?

I decided to try a sample of L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream and find out.

L'Oreal BB cream

The answer is yes. A resounding yes.

In fact, I’m trying to imagine my life right now with BB in it.

Okay, so I can imagine life without BB cream but I sure wouldn’t want it to be this week.

I’m currently in Washington, DC with 100 or so generously spirited people learning about advocating for global vaccinations through the Shot@Life Champions program. What does that have to do with BB? Well, I’m off to Capitol Hill to meet two Congressmen and a Senator from my state. I’m sure they won’t be looking at my skin  but I’d still like to look a little polished.

Then I’ll be headed off to NYC for the Red Dress Awards as a guest of Campbell’s Soup and their new Address Your Heart site. While it is a great cause recognizing those who are championing against heart disease, there will be celebrities. I don’t try to pretend I’m a member of the A-list (or D-list, for that matter) but I’d like to look like I meant to look good without trying really hard.

I love this product. It’s awesome. That’s my authentic, unpaid, unbiased opinion. SheSpeaks/L’Oreal sent me a free sample of L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. in Fair but all opinions are certainly my own.

BB cream

And if you don’t believe me, I shot a little video just to show you how fab this product is.

In the video, I mentioned that the BB cream was a little dry for my face. Then I found out L’Oreal also makes Age Perfect BB Cream Instant Radiance  which is “formulated exclusively for mature skin.” I’m thinking this might be what I need to try for my “mature skin.”

Have you tried a beauty balm? Which one? Love it or hate it?

  1. I’ve tried the Olay Fresh Effects BB cream. I think the light tint is a little too light, and I’d like it to do a little bit better job of concealing. I do like the moisturizing and sun protection effects, though.

    • I don’t think L’Oreal has sun protection and the moisturizer is a little light for me. But I love the overall coverage. I have the “fair” shade and I’d probably want to go a little darker in the summer just so I’m not emphasizing how truly pale I am.

  2. I have wanted to try this BB cream for a while now. Then I found out that they are doing a CC cream for mature skin owners, of which I am one. Your skin looks great by the way.

  3. The Korean bb creams are superior, imo! I use Skin79 Triple Functions and the coverage is amazing without any cakiness. Definitely can’t imagine life without bb now.
