I started this journey because I love cars, baseball, and road trips. And I figured that readers with an interest in one of those areas might follow along.
Well, I have some bad news and some good news for some of you.
There is no baseball on Day 3 of the #CruzeDieselMLBTour.Â
We didn’t even casually talk about baseball. Or hot dogs. But we did talk about cars. Specifically, our sweet ride for the trip, the 2014 Chevy Cruze Turbo Diesel.
When I posted some of my road trip pictures on Instagram, I heard some chatter about this car because it’s diesel. And in your mind you might be thinking…
Wait – is diesel a thing again? Yes, it is.
Isn’t diesel all black and smoky and bad for the environment? Nope. It’s new technology called Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel.
Isn’t diesel hard to find and scary to pump? Great question. Glad you asked. I’ve got a short video for you that’s all about the diesel fueling experience.
And if you’re wondering what the benefits of a diesel car are, I can answer you in two words: HIGHWAY DRIVING. Around town, the fuel economy was pretty average but on the highway, I couldn’t be stopped. We averaged around 50 mpg.
Now if talking about diesel isn’t your thing, I’ve still got a little entertainment for you. We documented some of the crazier sights on the drive from Baltimore to Raleigh including…
Our require snackage for the trip. I picked Pringles and PayDay. Tonya picked Lay’s Classic and KitKat. When I posted this, many of you were very vocal about your road trip snacks of choice. Clearly, this is an important part of any drive.
A deer (?) head in the back of this truck. Yes, it’s just the head. Yes, it was dead. Yes, we were in the South. Yes, it stared at me as we drove by.
Calories don’t count on the road. You know that, right? That’s why we stopped at The Cowfish in Raleigh and loaded up on some “Burgushi” (a glorious combination of burgers and sushi).
And then we had a good laugh in the parking lot as we saw the sports car parked in the Low Emitting & Fuel Efficient Vehicles Only space. Dream on, dude. That space should have been mine.
Finally, if you still aren’t getting enough of a road trip feel, I created one more video just for you. And yes, I am singing along (very poorly) to Katy Perry. Because that’s what you do on road trips.

You guys look like you’re having a blast. I want to join you for a leg of the trip, catch a game and sing in the car. But fair warning, I’d probably talk about some baseball, just not the Astros.
I used to know a thing or two about baseball teams and players. I don’t anymore but at least the rules of the game haven’t changed. You can cork your bat, right?
That was really a blast!!! I wanna go there some time soon too! Looks interesting and fun! 🙂
[…] after a trip to DC to see the Nationals and a trip to Baltimore to see the Orioles and an overnight stop in Raleigh, we (me and my sister) finally made it to Atlanta just in time to see the fireworks kick off the […]
