Netflix offers great family content. But let’s face it. The best stuff on Netflix is not family-appropriate. I’m thinking Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, both of which are rated TV-MA. That means it’s for mature audiences only. That means that unless you’re cradling a newborn in your arms that has no concept of English, NO KIDS ALLOWED.
And I know what that means. You have limited time to watch grown-up shows, especially if your kids go to bed late (like mine). So you have to get creative about when and where you watch your shows. Since I work from home, I sometimes allow myself an official “lunch break” during the day and watch an episode of Orange is the New Black while my son is at school.
Or sometimes, I try to squeeze it in while he’s outside playing and I’m cleaning the house or something. When he unexpectedly comes in from outside, I’ve had to immediately turn the show off. But one time, I thought that since he was busy playing his video games in his nearby playroom that I could maybe finish the last few minutes of the episode.
He later revealed to me that he heard questionable language coming from the next room. Yeah. Not the best viewing strategy. I guess I’ll have to wait until school starts again before I can catch up on Season 4.
So how else can you grab some me time with Netflix? Here are some suggestions as to where and how exactly you might be catching up on your latest episodes.
The only one I’ll admit to is on my iPad on the treadmill. It’s how I watched the entire first season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Where will you admit to watching your Netflix? And while you’re at it, what are your sneak-worthy shows that you watch during your me time?
Although I haven’t seen all of the shows below, these are the ones I always here my friends saying they need to add to their queue. And by their queue I mean their queue. Let’s make sure your kid doesn’t learn about President Underwood the hard way.
