Surprise! I’m a little happier this week! Not that I have been miserable but I caught a little glimpse of my happy place today. A couple of glimpses actually. And now, I have that feeling that I crave on a regular basis. That feeling that everything is gonna be alright.
Today, I saw the light. Only a brief glimpse but it was so nice to see it! We’re back up in Baltimore and back looking and thinking about where to move. A few days ago, I had given up. I was ready to just buy something. Anything.
Today, we made the decision that sounds like a no-brainer. We met with a real estate agent. He’s a young guy and tech savvy. We like that. In fact, we like technology so much that we’ve been spending hours on the computer looking at houses online and not getting any closer to figuring out what we want. But we’re tough and we think we can do it all ourselves.
So we met this agent and he took us on a tour of one house we were dying to see. It was originally built in 1753. It had an addition in the 1800s and again in the 1970s. It’s been completely restored. It sits on 3.3 acres of the most beautiful peaceful green grass surrounded by ancient trees and pieces of the past. Places to tie your horse. A granite block to help you step down from the carriage. And old door with a turnkey. And icehouse and grainery. A small stone barn.
It’s just steeped in history and when I got out to see how it compared to the pictures, I felt giddy. Literally. I couldn’t wipe the happy grin off my face. It was such a peaceful place. I was worried it might have that old house, creepy, icky factor and it didn’t.
Is it MY house? It could be. There are plenty of things that I don’t like about it. But just finding a place that felt like it could be home made my heart sing.
After raving about this house, I thought it only fair to share a glimpse of it with you. Maybe someday I’ll invite you over for tea at my new house!
