I might have had a little too much wine last night (it was for a good cause) and eaten a little too much of those incredibly delicious sugar and cinnamon hot pretzels and birthday cake. And it might still be 28 degrees outside but today, I feel the promise of Spring and the promise of rebirth.
Here’s my 5 minute brain dump…

Nothing has changed in a week except my outlook. I recognize that I’ve been stuck in a rut. Whether it’s my mental state or physical state or simply the weather, I recognize that my limitations are things I can control. So this past week, I made the effort to get out of the rut.
Some of the things I did:
- Cleaned and cooked in the kitchen (this is an accomplishment for me AND I got compliments on the meals from Evan – Sean was out of town)
- Did all of my laundry and folded and hung it and PUT IT AWAY (this, too, is a major accomplishment)
- Went to the gym 4 times (FOUR TIMES, people)
- Ran on the treadmill 3 times (Couch to 5k right here)
- Invited a friend to lunch just because I wanted to (the crepes were delicious)
- Had a call with an awesome friend and designer who I plan to work with to make my blog all profeshunal
And on top of that, I had a car delivered on Friday (Mazda CX-9 – more to come on that) and I’m currently trying to plan a day trip for the family today so we can put that bad boy to the test.
I’ve also got trips coming up almost every week for the next 2 months. That’s exhausting but exciting and exhilarating and inspiring. It’s what I need and it’s how I’m trying to keep my head above water until I realize I’m no longer treader. I’m just going with the flow.

Your week inspires me. Go girl! I really need to go to the gym. Because I can’t with this weather. We had lots of rain and I probably could get out because the allergy traps are watered down but then we had a cold snap. I just need to find the treadmill in the sunny spot in the gym and go with that.
I need to go to the gym too!
Ugh!!! I was totally in a rut too. The weather here, in Chicago, sucked the life out of me! But things seem to be changing and I’m feeling excited. You sound like you’re on the right track and BUSY!!!!! That does wonders for me, exercise and stuff on my plate. I haven’t cooked in weeks since I’ve been gone. Going to start back up with that, right after the laundry ;-). Thanks for hosting!!!
paddling as fast i can here … with no end in sight. ugh.
also, may i ask who are you going to be working with – in need of someone urgently for a quick fix!!!
Oh, my CX9 is awesome for road trips. Seriously comfy yet slightly sporty! Enjoy the heck out of it! And a week can make an enormous difference. Brava for both weeks!
So glad things are so much better this week! All good signs and lots of fun things to come!
You know, the having a lunch with a friend is so important. (I know, I’m commenting again) but seriously – making time to be with friends made a huge difference in my life. When I was your age, I had “meet with a friend once a week for lunch, coffee, whatever just for fun.” Now it is a lifestyle. And I;m much happier. 🙂
I have been going to the gym since I moved. I have not lost any weight but I feel better, and have more energy. I think that is more important anyway. Good luck over the next 2 months with your travel. Since I moved I have almost no travel scheduled, and the blog is suffering!
That’s a lot of travel. B.C. (before child) I traveled significantly more for work. I still do a limited amount but it stresses me out so much more wondering how things are going at home without me. You are a brave one for taking to the road in a car. I’d much rather fly – even as painful as flying is these days.
I’m glad you are getting out of your rut! Have fun on all of your trips.
