When it comes to Disney, you might think that I’ve seen it, done it, and tasted it all. I’ve also probably written about it, photographed it, and even vlogged about it. But the truth is, there are so many more layers to me and Disney.
For example, I bet you didn’t know these four things about me.
1. I’m obsessed with trying on Mickey ears that I’ll never buy.
True story: I’ve never bought ears. Ever.
2. Water rides are my favorite.
Do I like riding water rides? Yes. Do I like sloshing around through the park in wet clothes? No. But unfortunately the two often go hand in hand.
3. I’m firmly in the Sorcerer Hat Should Stay camp.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, most people either loved the hat or hated the hat. I loved it. I thought it was an icon. But I lost that battle. Sorcerer Hat RIP.
4. I’m a screamer.
I have a pretty good tolerance for thrill rides but don’t sit next to me if you plan to keep your eardrums intact.
And as further proof of my screaming, I had the unique opportunity to film my most recent ride on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith. As an attendee of this year’s Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, we had an opportunity to sign up for a ride mount on one of the following: Dumbo the Flying Elephant (yawn), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (which filled up in minutes), Tower of Terror (barf), or the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
So at 7 am on a Saturday morning, I boarded a bus headed for the secret back entrance into Hollywood Studios, accompanied by Gina Vercesi, my ride/scream partner. We nervously waited in line for a once in a lifetime chance to skip all lines, take a solo ride on the coaster and have the entire thing filmed.
While I was tired and a little grumpy, I’ve learned that this beats a cup of coffee any morning.
Was I right or was I right? I was a screamer and although it got the adrenaline pumping, I wasn’t ready to do it again. What’s your take on coasters? Do you do them? Are you a screamer? It’s never too late to try!

That was so funny! I’m a screamer too; but, if I had been there, I’d have picked Tower of Terror (it’s my favorite ride because it makes me scream and laugh all at the same time!)
I don’t think I’ve ever tried on a pair of mouse ears, though I have conquered my fear of lice enough to allow my kids to try on hats for pictures. I figure the magic of Disney must surely supercede lice, right? (Please say “yes”)
And I have to disagree about the hat. I loved the original MGM Studios and walking down the street heading toward the Chinese Theater. The hat obstructed that view. (I wouldn’t have minded seeing them keep it – just not THERE.)
I’ve been on Tower of Terror enough to know that I can do it but not particularly enjoy it. Actually, I don’t think it’s me – it’s my stomach. So these days, I usually pass unless there’s an immense amount of peer pressure.
As for the hat? I never went to Hollywood Studios before the hat so maybe that’s the difference? It’s what I’ve always known but now I completely see your point too!
My stomach is beginning to do that with roller coasters. 🙁 This getting old thing really stinks sometimes. I’m going to cry when I can’t do ToT though!
I had no issue with the hat as the park icon – in fact, I think it was a good fit – but I’d have preferred it moved maybe to the entrance of the park rather than in the center where they had it.
I love that you were screaming and singing “Walk This Way”!
I didn’t WANT to sing. I just couldn’t help myself!!
LOL! I love that video! I used to love coasters, but I haven’t been on one in forever. Already my 6 year old is a coaster enthusiast, so I guess I’ll be getting reintroduced soon!
Warning: roller coasters are NOT the same as when we were young. Or rather WE aren’t the same as when we were young. You better start practicing now!
I’m a screamer, but my teenage daughter is a SCREAMER!!!! I love it, though – to hear her laughing and screaming and having such a great time makes the stomach twists and turns totally worth it.
The older I get, the more I tend to laugh than scream. But this ride? Yeah, the whole thing was pretty scream-inducing!
Y’all are so damn cute! You both scream and close your eyes at the same time. 😉
