Bring me your tired, your poor, your hooded eyelids…
That’s the kind of liberty we need today. As you reach a certain age, somewhere between 40 years old and the exact moment you birth your first child, everything starts to get very tired on your face. And for most women, it’s the eyes. On this woman, it is exactly the eyes.
But we all have different eye trouble. For me, I tend to have hollows under my eyes and a lot of fine lines, which may be why I liked but didn’t love the latest eye product I tried, LATHER Toning Eye Gel with Vitamin K.
About LATHER Skincare
LATHER (that toiletries brand you see at many fine hotels) actually offers a complete line of beauty products including those for the face, the skin, and the hair. I’ve always loved their haircare when I’ve stayed at hotels that use their products and was thrilled to see that the same quality might carry through in a skincare line.
Before we dive into the details of the skincare products I tried, I want to share why I tried LATHER products. It’s because I care about the ingredients that I use in my beauty routine. They care about that too as well as the impact their products have on the environment.
We take all our cues from Nature, ensuring that every product and unique ingredient combination is thoughtfully formulated to deliver daily wellness, relief and joy. Our products are free of paraben, sulfates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances and synthetic colors.
Additionally, they never test on animals and don’t work with manufacturers who do. They’re also a carbon neutral business, using EcoPure in their packaging, recycled materials, and soy-based inks. What I love is that even with the environmental care that’s taken for the packaging, it stills comes across as a high quality product.
But business philosophies don’t help skin. So let’s talk about what the LATHER Toning Eye Gel with Vitamin K does and what it did for me.
LATHER Toning Eye Gel with Vitamin K Review
The product is a clear gel with no real fragrance. The directions say to lightly dab the gel under and around the eye after cleansing in the morning and evening. Let it absorb into your skin and apply makeup as usual.
I don’t apply makeup under my eyes (I think it settles into my lines and makes me look older) so I would often dab and go. And I tried to use it at least once a day, sometimes twice a day. I did all of this over a three week period before assessing what I thought of the product.
What I Liked
- It’s lightweight
- Doesn’t have any discernible odor
- Absorbs very quickly
- Perfect for under, over, and beside the eye area
- Tightens the skins
- Provides a slight lift
What I Needed
As an FYI, I’m still using the product so that’s a testament that I like it enough to not only test it and review it but also to continue with the treatment. However, here are a few things to note about the product.
It is firming and tightening but not moisturizing. After two weeks, I realized that I would be better suited if I applied the product, let it absorb into my skin, and then dab on a undereye moisturizer (in fact, I’m really thinking this would pair well with the LATHER Licorice Root Eye Treatment which offers antioxidants along with well-known anti-aging ingredient, hyaluronic acid).
Who This Product Is Good For
While reviewing LATHER Toning Eye Gel with Vitamin K, I thought it might be smart to look up the value of Vitamin K when it comes to skincare. It turns out that it’s often used medically after surgical procedures to help with bruising and swelling.
Do you see where I’m going with this?
If you tend to have puffy eyes and dark circles under your eyes, this is an ideal solution to help with both of those problems. These aren’t things I suffer from too much but I would guess it could have a significant impact on those that do.

Other Products to Try
As I mentioned above, I’d love to try the LATHER Licorice Root Eye Treatment but I also had a chance to sample a few of their face products, LATHER Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing Crème and LATHER Australian Plum Night Creme, both of which I loved!
If you’re like me, you’re hesitant to jump headfirst into a new skincare routine. Who wants to spend tons of money only to learn something doesn’t work for you? That’s why I usually start with a sampler kit and LATHER has quite a few (and each is only $29).
Let me know if you’ve tried any LATHER products either at a hotel or elsewhere and what’s working for your aging skin.
