I’m definitely on the south side of my 40s. At 40, I was feeling fantastic. I even called it My Midlife Awakening. And things were pretty great up until 45. And then things started going downhill. My hair, my body, my face.
You never want to think you’re vain until you get up close and personal with the mirror and realize all of the changes that have taken place that you just did NOT authorize. My eyelids sag. My jawline sags. My forehead wrinkles. And don’t even get me started on the lines under my eyes.
For years, I said I would do any procedure to help improve my appearance as long as it doesn’t involve surgery. I never want to stray too far from the natural course of aging or from my natural appearance. I don’t want to look like a 25 year old. I’d just like to look like a better version of me. And I might have found something that helps do that.
Last summer, I attended a new store opening for a place called Soft Surroundings, which caters to “women of a certain age” (my words, not theirs). As it turns out, I am one of those women. I loved their clothes but I was really drawn to the beauty section of the store which carries a variety of makeup and pharmaceutical grade skincare products.
As I spoke to the National Beauty Director (surprise – it’s a guy!), I grilled him on this “facelift without surgery” product called Fillerina. And I ended up buying it. Here’s what happened next
What is Fillerina?
Fillerina® Replenishing Treatment is a skincare package consisting of two products: Replenishing Gel and Nourishing Film. The key ingredient behind Fillerina is concentrated hyaluronic acid.
You may have heard the term hyaluronic acid thrown around a lot, especially in the anti-aging skincare circles. It’s often used as a supplement or serum specifically for the skin. But it’s a substance that naturally occurs in the body anyway. To simplify things, it’s like a lubricant inside your body – in cartilage, in connective tissue. And as a filler for cosmetic purposes.
I don’t want anything injected in my skin but I will do the next best thing. I’ll apply hyaluronic acid to the surface of my skin in a concentrated manner so that it will absorb into my epidermis. The large (relatively speaking) molecules will penetrate the skin surface where they will reside and plump up the skin.
That’s what Fillerina said it would do so I tried it.
What You Get with Fillerina
When you look at the Fillerina packaging, it looks like a clinical, medical grade procedure for your face. In fact, the applicators look like syringes which made me pretty scared. But this is NOT an injectable product. The syringe-like applicators are for precision application.
You receive two vials – Replenishing Gel, the hyaluronic serum you strategically apply to your face, and Nourishing Film, a heavy moisturizer to leave on your face overnight.
You’ll also receive the all-important instruction card that shows you exactly where to apply the serum. You’ll notice that the serum is generally applied in the area where you might have lines – the eyes, the lips, the forehead, and the laugh lines. But you’ll also notice that you apply it in areas like the brows and the cheeks (the whiskers!). This is to ensure that you get an overall lifted look on your face.
So how hard is it to make this all work and is it all worth it? I’ll answer both of those questions!
14 Days to a Fillerina Facelift
This is designed to be a 14 day treatment that you apply to your face each night. The steps are pretty simple.
- Wash and dry your face.
- Drink 2 big glasses of water. (Hydration is EVERYTHING!)
- Fill your applicator (“syringe”) with 1 ml of Replenishing Gel and apply to one side of the face as indicated on the card.
- Fill the applicator with another 1 ml of Replenishing Gel and apply to the other side of the face.
- Lay down for approximately 10 minutes while the Replenishing Gel absorbs into your skin.
- Using the palms of your hands, gently press the gel to ensure maximum application of the product.
- Using the same 1 ml per side of the face technique, fill the second applicator with Nourishing Film and apply in the same areas as the Replenishing Gel.
- Gently pat the moisturizer into the targeted areas and all over the skin.
- In the morning, wash your face and proceed with your normal skincare routine.
- Repeat 13 more times!
Sounds easy enough but it can be a bit awkward. The first time you apply the Replenishing Gel, you’ll likely have it running down your face while you’re figuring out where you’re supposed to apply it. And the Nourishing Film is significantly thicker and not really suited to the type of applicator they gave you. The instructions tell you that this step “requires patience during extraction” but it also requires a lesson in futility.
Once all of the steps have been completed, simply wash the applicators thoroughly and let them dry for the next night’s application.

This is one of those types of products that you need someone to hold your hand with. And there was no one there to do it for me. So I’m here for you. Here’s the whole treatment including the results.

As with all beauty treatments, I recommend taking before and after photos. And maybe even a few in between. Because in the end, I thought that the results were maybe good but not that noticeable. But then I put my photo collage together.

Keep in mind that I also have brushed my hair and added makeup. And I also seem generally a little happier (I was traveling for that photo). But the contours of my face changed very subtly. I notice it most in my lower cheek area and little on my forehead and eyelids.
I did not really notice a change in my lips or under my eyes (where I’m the most desperate for help) but I do know that they make both a Fillerina Lips and Mouth Treatment as well as a Fillerina Eye & Eyelid Treatment.
It’s definitely an investment. The Fillerina Replenishing Treatment I used retails for around $165 (lower for Grade 1, higher for Grade 3) but it’s significantly cheaper than a visit to a med spa.
Remember – beauty is a process, not just a treatment. It has to do with what we put in our bodies, how we take care of our physical, emotional, and mental needs.
