What is a hybrid mattress?
I’ll be honest. Before settling down on the Sweet Zzz Honey Hybrid mattress, I had no idea what a hybrid mattress was. I never even knew they existed!
I thought there were memory foam mattresses and spring mattresses, and not much in between. But this is the beauty of a hybrid mattress. It uses a conforming layer, like memory foam or latex, and places it on top of a supportive layer of spring coils.
Who is a hybrid mattress good for?
Specifically, a hybrid mattress is good for anyone! It offers firm support for back sleepers and stomach sleepers. But if you’re a side sleeper like me, you might be wondering if it’s too supportive.
As a side sleeper, I typically prefer a softer mattress so that I don’t have any uncomfortable pressure points on my shoulders or hips. Since the Honey Hybrid mattress has a latex layer, I get the cushioning of a typical foam bed with support from the springs.
It’s also good for people like my sister who still think mattresses must have springs to be legitimate, without understanding the joy or cushioning from newer materials!

This is the big question! There seem to be about 62,783 different mattress companies out there. And when you ask your friends (especially on social media), everyone has a different opinion about why their choice is the best.
You probably know what you want and what you don’t want in a mattress. You have an idea of support and quality. But materials matter.

A few things to note about this set up:
- Organic materials are used on throughout
- Wool is an important layer as it acts as a fire retardant, eliminating the need for a chemical retardant to be used
- Micro coils designed to conform to your body shape
Also, because these layers are in a very specific order, there is no need to flip the mattress ever!

Here’s the bottom line: Sleep is personal.
What works for you may not work for someone else. It depends on where you sleep, how you sleep, and who you sleep with!
For me, as a side sleeper, I found this mattress to be much firmer than a typical memory foam mattress. Surprisingly, though, I had no pressure issues on my hip and shoulder. And I woke up with my bad back (thanks, scoliosis) feeling amazing.
Side note: I’ve reviewed memory foam mattresses that I loved but they completely gave out within 3 years.
