The View from the Left Side of the Train

It’s a trip I’ve made several times. It’s a trip I’ve come to enjoy. Board at the BWI Amtrak station and within three hours arrive at New York’s Penn Station. Admittedly, though, I’m heads down most of the time while on the train. I’ve figured out how to get a strong wifi signal and the serenity of the train helps me focus on writing.

There’s something relaxing about sitting on a train and watching the world go by as you listen to the hum of the wheels on the track. And on this trip, I wanted to at least pause along the way and capture the scenes as they went rolling by the window.

I loved watching the weather change along with the architecture in each city and each station.

In 24 hours, I traveled through four states and back again and every time I looked out the window, the scene was different. Did you see what I saw? There was beauty in the graffiti and industry and workmen. And there was even a nun. Did you catch that?

And at the end of journey, I arrived safe and sound at the train station where I await my next train adventure.

  1. We took the train to NYC a few weeks ago and I loved being able to view the scenery out the windows as we traveled. I even took a video or two. 🙂 I plan to write a Train vs. Plane post – hopefully next week.
