Looking for unusual Valentine’s Day gifts? That’s my specialty! I’ve picked out something for him, for her, for friends, for kids. And there’s still time with Amazon Prime!
Valentine’s Day is not a big holiday or celebration in my household. Maybe it’s because I don’t like pink, I don’t like hearts, and I’m not not really a big fan of chocolate.
In fact, growing up, I think my parents did more for the kids on Valentine’s Day than they did for each other. I still remember the GIANT lollipop heart my mom got me and the the Whitman’s Sampler my dad would bring home every year.
(Side note: I would proceed to “sample” every single chocolate in the box until I found one I liked. I was so obnoxious.)
So if I do anything for Valentine’s Day, I like to think a little outside the heart-shaped box and come up with something a little unusual for the valentines in my life – whether it’s my son or husband or friend. And this year, I decided to curate a list of some things you might consider for the valentine in your life.
And best of all? Everything you see on this is list is from Amazon so if you’re an Amazon Prime member, chances are pretty good you can have it in two days (perfect for last minute shoppers like me). All of the links below are affiliate links which means if you click through and decide to make a purchase, I’ll make a small commission. But more importantly, you’ll be making someone in your life very happy.
For special couples time
Looking for the right Valentine’s Day gifts to help you celebrate as a couple? They don’t have to be boring or super naughty. Here are a few ways to be sweet but true to yourself.
TABLETOPICS Couples: Questions to Start Great Conversations – They say the key to a great relationship is good communication. But it’s easier to just sit and stare at the TV, am I right? Bring entertainment and together time, well, together with this conversation starters like “what’s the craziest thing we’ve ever done together?”
Don’t answer that here, though.
New Life – How about a nice romantic movie? In case you missed it, I got a chance to screen this movie and I laughed and cried and then cried again. But it was a good cry. Seriously, I liked this movie. Great for a date night in.
Kulana Lua Single Speed Tandem Bicycle – Also known as the bicycle built for two, this gift represents the ultimate trust exercise. I mean, I’d totally ride this with my husband. As long as I was up front and in control.
I am weird puzzle keychain – In my personal coupledom, it would be easy to know who gets which half of the keychain. I am weird. He loves weird. At least, I think he does. If he doesn’t, it’s a little late now.
Star Wars I love you, I know mobius necklace This saying never gets old and it won’t have to on this never ending loop of a necklace. And finally, you won’t have to decide who says I love you and who says I know.
Eparé Insulated Stemless Champagne Flutes – Let’s say you want to be a little traditional and have a nice romantic glass of champagne. Personally, I’d probably grab a cheaper bottle of a nice, dry prosecco or cava but anything would work (just NOT Cold Duck). I don’t have these but I have regular double walled drinking glasses and they are amazing at keeping things cold.
Champagne Stopper by MiTBA – Now, let’s say you’re enjoying that bottle of champagne, prosecco, or cava and you just can’t finish it. I know. How could that even happen? But let’s say it does… you’ll want something like this. I have something very similar that I picked up at the Korbel Cellars in California on my honeymoon and it absolutely will keep your bubbly still bubbling if you seal it up.
A Little Self-Indulgence
Maybe for you, Valentine’s Day gifts aren’t about us. It’s about me or him or her. It’s about finding something special for someone special, and, yes, that someone can be you.
Foreo Luna – Remember when I reviewed this a few years ago? I still stand by it. It’s like giving yourself an at-home facial. And the fact that you can get it in pink makes it feel more valentinesy.
Himalayan Natural Salt Lamp – You probably see these every time you turn around. But there are some real benefits to your air quality when you use this on a regular basis. My mom got me one for Christmas and I love it! And, it looks cool and maybe even a little sexy when used as a nightlight.
Kindle Oasis eReader – Just as my old Kindle is starting to die, my husband tells me he’s interested in reading on a Kindle, which is unusual because he’s not much of a reader. Turns out he just really wants this new Kindle which has a matte finish and is waterproof. I hope he does buy it. FOR ME!
harman kardon Esquire Mini Speaker – It’s cute, has amazing sound quality, and is very portable. I know because I have one! Take it literally anywhere in its travel pouch. And look – it comes in red! Perfect for Valentine’s Day!
Amazon Echo Spot – We’re definitely on a first name basis with Alexa in our house. We have an Echo (three, actually), Echo Dot, and Echo Show. But I love this one for the bedroom. It has a display so that it can function like an analog clock, show you the weather, and even play some romantic music.
For friends and kids
Hey, I recognize we may not all have an active love life. It’s the perfect day to show your kids or your BFFs how much they mean to you.
Compass Best Friend necklace – Even though I hate the term Happy GALentine’s Day, why not take the time to share tell your BFF how you feel? This would also make an awesome mother-daughter gift.
Batman & Robin Bromance t-shirt – Are you caught in a rad bromance? I wish I were a guy just so I could confidently wear this shirt. Or give it to the better bro.
Chef’s Choice Waffle Maker – Want to know the way to a kid’s heart? It’s through his waffles. And I bet your significant other wouldn’t balk at these either.
LEGO Romantic Valentine’s Picnic – Staying away from sweets? No better way to show your kids (or spouse) that you love them than with LEGO. Am I right? says the girl with the LEGO Disney Castle.
When All Else Fails
He’s terrible at showing you appreciation. You’re terrible at buying him something he wants. Just get one of each and you’ll both be happy at the end of the day.
Periodic Beer pint glass – Also known as a beer glass for nerds. He’ll like it just fine. You should know. You married him.
Best. Wife. Ever. mug – He’s not going to buy it for you but you know he means it, right? And if he doesn’t, he’ll at least be reminded of it every time you drink your coffee in front of him.
Every. Time.

So where do you fall on the Valentine’s Day gifts spectrum? Are you all in? Do you skip it entirely? Or do you like to be delightfully surprised by something a little different? If it’s that last one, make sure you share on Facebook where someone will likely see it and hopefully make a selection. (There’s still time with Prime!)
And if you’re totally not into buying something but want to do something crafty, you should read about that one time I attempted to do Valentine’s Day crafts. They even put me on TV for it!
