Shaklee 180: The 150 Day Reveal

Continuing my journey as a Shaklee 180 blogger on a journey to get fit and healthy…

I don’t wanna. I don’t wanna post the pictures this month. But I committed to myself that I would every month. And the reason I did is because I know a lot of people are like me. They dream of looking like this:

Terminator-2-Linda-Hamilton-Sarah-Connor

And end up looking more like this:

True story: When I was in college, Terminator 2 had just been released and Linda Hamilton was being talked about in all the magazines. I cut out this totally rad picture of her and her muscles and taped it to my closet door in my dorm room. I had dreams of looking just like that. Badass.

Well, I’m not a badass.

The truth is that sometimes I feel like Linda Hamilton. I wear tighter clothes. I feel thin.

And then I head to BlogHer and stand next to my friend Tracy who’s training for a marathon.

No worries, though. We’re all made differently and I’m feeling good about my journey. I even volunteered to get up for a 7am yoga session in Wrigley Park in Chicago. Despite a chilly early morning rain, I felt in my element. I may not be able to run marathons but I can do yoga. And then I saw the pictures.

I’m the second one in and when I looked through these event photos I saw thin, lean, beautifully posed bodies and I saw my white, doughy body in the middle of it all. I feel like a fake. I feel like it will never come naturally to me – the eating and the fitness.

But I will not let the self-loathing get me down. I will continue to bury those thoughts and keep doing the best I can every day. That’s all I can do.

And now, I’ll show you how that’s working for me.

People following the weight-loss portion of the Shaklee 180™ Program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week.

So what do you think? I went down a pound but not in measurements. In fact, I went up a half an inch in my upper arm. The good news is that I’m building muscle. I can not only feel it but I can see it so I’m pleased with my arm measurement. But it also means I’m not losing fat.

So what am I going to do? Keep working on it.

Here are my photos from Week 16 and Week 20. Let’s see if we can see any difference.

The good news is that I can see more muscle definition, especially in my back, and it can all be attributed to yoga (something I love). The bad news is that I still got that flabby belly.

All I can say is that I’m working on it and doing the best I can. I’d love to have a big huge dramatic reveal in a month when the program comes to an end for me but I’m not sure if I can make that happen. Either way, I’ll be sticking to this for another 30 days and can guarantee you that my lifestyle has changed for good.

  1. You can totally see a difference — and you look great! You’re making me wish I hadn’t just eaten that miserable bagel. Ick 😉

    • Just before I posted this, I had a big bowl of leftover Pad Thai. I had some regret but man, it tasted good. Food is my downfall!!

    • NO! We will find a way to get rid of it! And then make a million dollars telling other women how to do it!! Or we’ll just dress in black. I hear it’s slimming 😉

  2. Fadra I think you look beautiful! I can also tell you have more muscle definition, but as for you having a “white, doughy body”, honey you don’t look that way to me. I know you and I don’t really “know” each other from Adam but seriously, that’s not what I see. I think you are doing an amazing job at making these changes!!

    • Anna – thank you so much for that. We are often the hardest on ourselves, right? I’m trying to just take baby steps and celebrate even the smallest successes.

  3. You can see a positive change, Fadra! You’re doing great. I am the same way, slow and steady. And feeling better! That’s the thing and you’re still in the game! WTG!
