For months now, I’ve been thinking about a new design and a new focus on my blog. I’ll admit, though, it’s hard to create a new focus when your blog is title “All Things Fadra.” For so long, I’ve been telling people that this blog is about whatever happens to be on my mind. But can I really make millions (or thousands or even hundreds) of people interested in just me and my world?
The truth is that my world is focused on people like me. People who are approaching middle age but know that LIFE STILL HAPPENS AFTER 40. There are things I’m still learning about myself. Things I still want to learn about myself. And certainly things I’m finally ready to experience.
As an over 40 population, we’re generally children of the 80s and 90s. We’re not the huge baby boomer generation and we’re certainly not the all-important millennials. We’re Generation X. The forgotten generation. But here’s what I know.
Many of us are late bloomers – late to parenthood, late to financial success, late to self-awareness and reflection. But we hold the pursestrings. We’re ready to embrace life and can afford it.
Although this is a lot of what I’ve been focusing on, I’ve never looked at it through this lens. I like to look at and review products that are unique, innovative, and/or high value. I’m ready to travel the world (again). I care about my impact on the environment but I also want luxury. And I believe there’s a happy medium.
The one thing I know is that I’m not finished yet. There’s so much more to explore in life and I plan to bring it all to you. And I welcome you to join me. To that end, you’ll see some changes on this blog over the next few weeks and months. Some of it is design, to reflect a more sophisticated, magazine-style format. Think of it as an Oprah magazine format, without the power and reputation of Oprah. Some of it is a more interactive format. And some of it will welcome YOU (for the first time) as a contributor here.
Thanks for joining me or sticking with me (or both). I can’t wait to go on this “over 40” journey with you!
