It’s Tuesday, I know. But I need to post on Tuesday about my Monday. I’m participating in @Adventuroo’s fun project called “Week in My Life.” Melissa posts all the details over on her blog and anyone can join up for any day for for the whole week. I must confess, I’m partially doing it because she has an awesome giveaway attached to the project. But really I just think it will be fun.
Here are my own rules that I’ve set for myself.
I’m only using my iPhone4 to take pictures. I’d love to haul my dSLR around with me but I find my phone easier for the day to day snapshots.
I plan to go light on my words. Yeah, like that’s remotely possible. But I think pictures often speak for themselves.
I’ll do all the photography. I will include myself in the week but it will be all self-portraits, which means I’ll probably be seen in an unflattering like.
Prepare for the good, the bad, and the ugly. And maybe some of the artistic. While people are a huge part of my day, so are my surroundings and I think they set the stage for life.
I plan to do this every day. I have other things I need/want to post so you may see 2 posts in one day. But this project goes until next Monday, October 17th where I publish my Sunday pics.
And now, I’ll shut up and introduce you to the day that was. Yesterday. My Monday.
The day started off with dropping my baby off at preschool and heading to my “office” (the local library, where the free wifi is a plenty!)
I change up my workspace every day but on Monday, I needed to get down to business so I sat right down at a table full of power (the electrical kind).
This is me hard at work. Sometimes I smile.
After preschool pick-up, we headed to Costco where I returned some sweatpants, ordered some contact lenses, and found the TV of my dreams. Evan is quietly sitting in the basket “reading” the copy of Shrek that I picked up for him at the library.
For some reason, this year, we can’t seem to get our fill of apples so I stocked up on a package of Gala (one of my faves) although I actually prefer to buy locally. We also got Vanity Fair napkins (my husband convinced me to only use fancy pants napkins after we got married) and organic milk (the one thing I ALWAYS buy organic).
On the way home, evidence of my scatteredness. The front seat is occupied by my purse, my laptop bag, Evan’s preschool papers, an old water bottle, and a Diet Coke from Costco (which I shouldn’t have had but I needed something to wash down my footlong hot dog which I shouldn’t have had either).
My big boy in the back seat. Almost every time I turn around to look at him, he flashes me a smile or blows me a kiss.
While stopped at a light, I checked my email and was excited about a pitch I got from Sani-Brand. The name was familiar and I looked in the back and realized why. These are always in my car.
When we got home, Evan was so excited to present Daddy with a card he made at school officially inviting him to Donuts for Dads next week. The picture he drew was Mommy and Daddy (both with glasses) and Evan and an alien. And Mommy was using her “love power” to fight off the alien.
It’s hard to catch my husband in a natural pose and I love how happy he looks sharing this moment with Evan.
After some downtime playing video games, I needed to get on my feet and took Emma for a walk.
As I continued to document my day, now around dinnertime, I was surprised to pick up my iPhone and see this message. Seriously, has anyone ever seen this? Especially since I wasn’t even using the flash.
While we usually sit down for a family meal, some nights we’re not in the mood for the complaints. We gave Evan a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I sat down with a bowl of cheese tortellini and we read library books. Sean at leftover Chinese food on the other side of the table and looked at his motorcycle magazine.
The long day was finished and so was my bottle of wine. I put Evan to bed, snuggled with my husband, and fell asleep to the sights and sounds of Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives. And I went to bed very hungry.
Is that what you expected my Monday to be like?? Join in anytime this week if you want to photodocument your life!

I can’t photodocument my life. I’d love to, but it’s just too gross right now! Yay for Gala apples! I just ate a 1/2 peck this week all by myself. Yum.
See, here’s the thing. You can pick and choose which photos you show 😉
I just bought that exact brand of hand wipes yesterday on my week in my life trip to the store. I had never seen them before, but liked that they fit perfectly in the cup holder of my car, which has like, 8 cup holders. Even though only 5 people can fit.
YES! I have a 6 seater and we have 11 cup holders (I think). And that’s exactly why I bought them too. Perfect fit.
Love the reluctant shots of yourself! I need to brave a few of those this week too.
My self-portraits are always ugly unless they are posed and filtered. I’m giving you my life unfiltered this week.
I need wipes for my car, so you have a head start now for that, don’t you?
You had a full day! A library would be a great place to work- a little people watching without the allure of expensive coffee.
I’ve done the coffee house thing but I love going to the library. Not too many distractions and plenty of room to spread out.
I need to get those Sani-Hands wipes for our car! It seems like D constantly has snot rivers coming out of her nose that inevitably get smeared on her face, plus there’s pretty much no dirty public surface her 14 month hands won’t touch. That cup shape is perfect!
No kidding! It was the shape that sold me. Once we got out of the baby wipes stage, my car got filthy. I don’t know why it took me so long to buy wipes!
Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives is the devil. It doesn’t matter if I just ate a huge meal – I watch fifteen minutes of Guy chomping on whatever the food of the moment is and I’m starving!
I wanted EVERY SINGLE THING ON THAT SHOW. With the exception of one guy who seemed like a stoner who cooks omelets. His food didn’t look that awesome. My favorite this episode was “the garbage plate”!!
Gala’s are my fave too!!
I need to take part in this at least once or twice this week…I like the giveaway item too!!
Oh me too! I’d love to win the prize!! I used to be a Granny Smith fan but now I love Gala, Fuji, and Honeycrisp. YUM!
I love that your office is the library – makes me want to head down to mine and check it out!
Surprisingly, I don’t even get too distracted by the books. And this is a nice new modern library. It’s perfect for writing. Seriously.
We also only buy organic milk. I was ruined after I watched Food, Inc. However, like you, I still can’t seem to shake the hot dogs or diet coke. baby steps people.
I’ve never seen Food, Inc. I’m scared too because I don’t want to give up some of life’s little pleasures
I love it, Fadra. I’m lazy so I am not doing it – but I might want to get a day in. We’ll see. Right now it’s pretty uneventful around here!
I’m kinda lazy too but these are easy and fun posts for me. You should do at least one day!
I wish my phone had a better camera so I could just confine myself to that for this project. I love Evan’s smile. Such a Q. T. PIE!!!
He is a cutie. My iPhone is great for most picture taking except low light and close-ups. It has a zoom but the pictures are too grainy. It’s the easiest way to document though!
Huh. The life of a big-time blogger isn’t as fabulous as one would think. 😉
Seriously though, I was curious – do you have favorite press people you do stuff with on a regular basis? This has sort of evolved in my little music world, where I’ve just ‘connected’ with a couple of press people – so if they send me music, or tour info, it’ll usually get extra special attention … which they end up appreciating as well.
I didn’t post the red carpet pictures. Didn’t want to make anyone feel too jealous 😉
You should email me about the press stuff ([email protected]). I have worked with the press but generally that’s not who I work with. We can discuss so I can understand more of where you are coming from.
I love that so many people are opting for their phones over the dslr. It feels more “real life” to me. We buy giant flats of peaches like you do your apples.
I love DSLR pics but by the time I would get mine out and set it up, I’d miss the shot. I plan to use my iPhone all week!
I did. I can’t remember where I posted it but it was Roxane (@roxisbrilliant)
Love the library as an office. I’ve thought about doing that while Liam is in school since there is one really close by.
Also, love that great smile from Evan chillin’ in his car seat!
I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. But now that I’ve been going for a few weeks, I’m starting to see some regulars. And it’s cheaper than a coffee shop!
I love seeing your day, even though we see each other often, I don’t see the day-to-day! The picture of hubs is great– sharing a moment with Evan.
I ADORE the pic of Evan in the Costco cart with the apples in front. Just something about that picture screams of what us mamas do in our everyday life.
The only problem is that now people will see how truly unglamorous the life of a blogger can be!
I love your “office.” I’ve always had a thing for libraries. Great documentation of the day. Your relaxed dinner time sound pretty awesome to me. 🙂
Dinner is actually pretty relaxing at our house. We do usually eat together and enjoy discussing our favorite parts of the day. And mom and dad usually pour a nice glass of wine with dinner 🙂
