Have you joined in the Capture the Everyday challenge yet? Well, I have. It’s my third week and you better get used to it. Because I love, love, love photography and I love the theme. Capturing the Everyday. It’s making a collection of all of the little things in our life that we surround ourselves with but never capture anywhere other than our heads.
This week’s theme: Your Kid’s Favorite Toy
I have to admit that there isn’t just one favorite toy in our household. Because… here goes… my son is an only child. And I pretty much buy him everything under the sun. Is he spoiled? No. Is he overindulged? Maybe. But truth be told, I’m a toy lover like my mom was and I buy a lot of toys because I just think they’re cool.
His latest obsession is with Fisher-Price’s line of toys called Imaginext. I think he has pretty much every set they sell. This last one was THE one he swore would complete his collection. It’s the Dragon Fortress. It comes with a dragon and Sir something-or-other.
What I love about this picture is the fortress is still while my son shows just the smallest signs of movement. Active play, I call it. I also love that he’s taken his boy toy and decorated it with the beads from our Mardi Gras party. I don’t think he’s trying to add a woman’s touch. I think he’s using them as evil chains, or something like that.
My favorite toys were always from Fisher-Price so I can’t say I’m disappointed with his picks these days.
Since this was originally written, my son has long since outgrown Imaginext toys but they hold such a special place in our hearts that they are all packed away in our basement. If you think you’ll forget what toys your kids love, you’d be surprised. Now is the time to Capture the Everyday. Looking back years later, you’ll be glad you did!

Glad to see that I’m not the only mom that buys lots of toys! Love ’em! This dragon castle looks pretty hardcore — beads and all.
I tried to capture in the photo but couldn’t. It goes into battle mode and it makes thunder sounds and flashes with lightning. I love it!
It reminds me of the Fisher-Price castle I loved when I was a kid (had a trapdoor and a dungeon) and the Fisher-Price Castle my now-nineteen-year-old loved as a kid (with boulder launcher). Can I come play??
Totally had the same castle as you. WIth the pink dragon and the hidden staircase, remember? It was one of our all-time favorite toys. And yes, this one reminds me of that. It had a dungeon, boulder launcher, and hidden staircase!!

I’ve seen that one at Target and know Big Roo would love that. The Imaginenext stuff is really cool. Love the “evil chain” touch!
Thanks for linking up!
I love Imaginext too but we’re overrun with it!
Dude, that is cool! I’m impressed.
Boys toys CAN be fun!
That is one SWEET castle. Evil chains and all. Love this post!
It is pretty awesome. I love it too!
Fisher-Price really did make the best toys, didn’t they? And I can see they still do! We looked at an Imaginext set at the store but Spencer didn’t really get into it…still too young I suppose.
And don’t worry…I LOVE toys and get excited to pick out things that I want to play with too.
I love FP toys. They have always been my favorite and I’m glad he loves them too!
Nice, the beads were the first thing that caught my eye. My guy uses them for everything and they decorate nearly all his toys.
I love the idea that they are evil chains.
I don’t know exactly what they are but they are most CERTAINLY not necklaces. Such an imagination on that kid…

“Imaginext” huh? I’ll have to look into that. I don’t want it to turn into an obsession like those Little People sets, but I’m always on the lookout for the next big thing.
It’s been out for a while. I had a set for a year but must admit that mom is a little more obsessed than kid.
I LOVE that he put the beads on it!!! Super badass scary chains. For sure. And so colorful 🙂
I could totally see him as a badass someday. Wearing pink. He marches to his own beat.
What an awesome toy! I can see why you both can’t resist it.
I love the cool hidden things and special effects. Imaginext rocks!
oh, Fisher-price! the stuff was also very BIG around here for a long time, now we have moved on to Lego and Supermario.
I’m just in from via Eden (who I also just discoverd) I like your 5 min meme a lot, but it’s kinda to late for me here. maybe another time. will be back.
do you have the awesome ALIENS from Fisherprice ? they don’t sell them in Oz 🙁
photo in my post (you don’t NEED to read, it’s in the end, and they are SO cool!)
So I tried to scope out the photo but couldn’t find which post you were talking about. Link please! Also saw you are an expat. Not an native Aussie, huh? Are you one of US? Thank you SO much for stopping by. Eden is also quite awesome.
And don’t let the Sunday thing fool you. I put the link up early on Sunday (my time) and leave it up all week. Some people kick in on Monday.
And why do I need to participate now? That is Miles’ favorite toy. He LOVES it. I think his favorite thing is to make the big dragon eat princesses. Hehe, he drives his sister crazy!
