It’s not coffee… it’s a cup of tea! But before we get to why you should care, let me tell you why I’m posting about it.
I’ve raved about my friend Melissa plenty of times. She smart, witty, and did I mention smart? She’s an especially savvy blogger with a lot of good stuff in the works. But this one? I just loved.
She’s starting a new meme this week that I think I’ll just have to participate in every week. It’s all about using our cameras to capture the every day. I don’t know about you but when I look at pictures from my childhood, I look beyond the subject in focus. I peek at the pink spaghetti bowls on the table that we used to have. Or the old cookie jar with cartoon kids hanging all over the letters C-O-O-K-I-E-S. I look at the toys I used to have and exclaim, I remember that!
So if you are a visual person, I encourage you to join in for this fun photographic journey. Today’s topic: Something you can’t live without.
Drumroll please…
I don’t depend on my tea every morning to wake me up like other people talk about coffee. It’s not that kind of love affair. It’s not an unhealthy co-dependent relationship. This is more of a torrid love affair that has turned into long-term companionship.
Every morning, always strong, always with milk and Truvia. I prefer English Breakfast but will settle for Irish, Scottish, or whatever other nationality offers breakfast tea. I prefer to use freshly boiled water, and not too much of it so as not to dilute the tea. I don’t overbrew for fear it would turn bitter.
When I look back at this picture, I think I’ll fondly remember the little teaspoons I have just for tea, my Sprout mug that I got at BlogHer ’10, my bamboo placemat, the plastic lid to the McDonald’s oatmeal I tried for breakfast this morning, and the reflection of out breakfast nook light in my tea.
I’m sure all of these things will someday be gone but I plan to have my tea around for a long time to come.

Any brand recommendations for some excellent tea? My husband and I just bought some excellent Tazo orange blossom tea, and I’m pretty stoked 🙂 I would love to find a decent breakfast tea, as I can see that coffee is not really the healthiest thing for my ridiculously sensitive stomach. Oh – and you took that picture with your iPhone? Awesome quality!!!
A good old standby for me that’s easy to find is Twining’s. Even though they are tea bags, the tea is pretty hearty and flavorful. But my favorite is a London tea that I can usually pick up in the food section of Marshalls or TJMaxx. It’s called London Cuppa (you can google it) and they sell it as loose tea or in tea bags. Love it!
And yes, the iPhone4 takes amazing pictures!
Wow! thats a really great picture. I’ve been getting some serious iphone envy lately. I love that you have your bamboo mat out. It seems so luxe
I use bamboo mats because they wash and dry easily 😉
Awesome shot! I really need to alternate between coffee and tea in the morning when I’m done bfing (I would now but I swear there are like three teas or so you can have bfing). Love the oatmeal lid btw– adds a nice touch. Is the oatmeal good? Keep seeing the pictures and thinking– that looks yum!
The oatmeal is good but apparently it’s got a ton of sugar in it. I guess that’s why it tastes so good.
I’m a tea girl, too. But never seem to turn it into the kind of tradition I’d love to have it be. Cheers, though! Love the great shot.
If you’re not a morning tea drinker, it’s great for a little afternoon break and snack, like a cookie. And now I think I’m going to have one.
Fadra: You and I will get along just fine over a cup of tea.
Can’t wait!!!
Beautiful shot. The light reflecting off the tea is very artistic! I’m a tea person, too, although I like lemon and other fruity kinds of tea. My favorite of the moment is strawberry lemonade that I get at loose leaf tea shop. Visiting from Adventuroo’s meme.
Wow – a strawberry lemonade loose tea? I’m assuming it’s herbal? I prefer black tea but loose is the way to go. Thanks for stopping by!
