Dansko Sanibel shoes are canvas based clogs that provide classic support with perfect style of Spring and Summer. And although they don’t seem to make them anymore, I’m hoping they’ll bring them back. Here’s a story of when they gifted me a pair that I got so many compliments on!
I did some pretty crazy things over the past few weeks. And I can’t wait to tell you about them. They both involve shoes. I know you shoe mavens are getting all excited now. So here goes…
1. I got red shoes.
I know. It’s probably very anti-climactic for all of you. But I’ve never had red shoes and I’ve always wanted red shoes.
It started with a little children’s book I made my mother read me over and over again called Ann Likes Red. I can still remember the dialogue between Ann and her mother as they went shopping.
“Tan shoes, Ann?”
“No, I want red.”
I thought maybe it was the fascination with red that drew me to the book. Looking back now and reading the description of the book, “this delightful story of an independent little girl who knows what she likes” makes me realize Ann and I were just kindred spirits.
Back to my shoes…
The ever-so-awesome Dansko asked me if I’d be interested in reviewing another pair of their shoes. This time it was from a new line for Spring called the Sanibel collection. I thought about it for about 3.2 seconds and then emphatically said YES! I WILL REVIEW YOUR SHOES FOR YOU.
The only problem? I had to pick out a shoe. Slip-on or laces? Patterned or solid? Canvas or leather? And then color…
Fadra Likes Red.
I picked the Volley Red Canvas style and haven’t looked back. Now for my next crazy news.
2. I decided Springtime shoes need a Springtime climate for a proper review.
Here’s how I took care of that.
And now for the nitty gritty…
I loved, loved, loved these Dansko Sanibel shoes. Some of you may have read my previous review for Dansko clogs. I have a little secret. I loved these a whole lot more. Here are some of the reasons why:
- The canvas is cool enough for Spring and Summer but heavy enough that you won’t feel like your feet aren’t protected.
- The rubber is thick and sturdy serving two purposes: It ensures the toes will never get holes in the canvas and it also ensures that this short girl will feel a whole lot taller.
- The shoes don’t smell. Yes, that’s gross. But let’s face it, warm sweaty feet and shoes are not a good mix. The aerated footbed makes your foot feel cool and keeps the knock-you-dead smell away.
- These shoes contain no egg or dairy. In other words, they’re totally vegan. I’m such an animal lover so if I can be stylish and vegan at the same time, I’ll take it.
- The loose fit, as with the professional clogs, make my feet feel free and happy in the warm weather while still having terrific support (and no blisters). Trust me, I saw many flip-floppers at the parks staring enviously at my shoes.
Now I know that many parts of the country are still getting dumped on by Mr. Freeze, so I think it’s time to breathe a little Springtime into your wardrobe. You can crank up your heat, wear them inside, and dream of warmer days to come.

I love the Sanibel Volley Blue Hopsack. I’ve never owned this brand of shoes so I am totally interested because they are super cute & would love to see how comfortable they are! Great giveaway!
They are unexpectedly comfortable because they have firm soles but magically keep your feet from aching! Nice choice!
OK-I LOVE THOSE RED SHOES!!! I’m jealous and I want some. I would also take the black canvas and sand canvas, that way I can wear them every day with everything. I “like” Dansko on FB (and all.things.fadra) but sorry, I’m not a tweeter or else I would do that too. My feet hurt so bad (bone spur in my left heel) and I’m not going to be able to wear flip flops this summer so I need these really bad. 🙂
I know of so many people with foot problems that have them completely alleviated with Danskos. I’ll have to show you my shoes in person. They are awesome!

LOVE the Sanibel Volley Blue Hopsack because they are SOOOOO GABulicious! I would wear them to all my kids outdoor activities, on summer vacation, to work, and with all my cool capris! They are so year round Worthy! Thanks for sharing this brand with all of us!

I would get the Saniebel Volley Navy Canvas. I’m trying to branch out of just black and brown shoes, and these would be great for trips to the park.

I LOVE Danskos but I have NOT seen the Sanibels! What a fun shoe. I ONLY wear Danskos so I neeeeeed a pair of the Valley Blue please! They feel great on my feet and my knees don’t ache when I wear them. I would love to wear them…..
To the fabulous fiber fair Rhinebeck where I would get to walk the scenic tree lined venue and see fabulous luxury yarns in every color of the rainbow, and meet knitwear designers and other fiber artisans, and see every kind of furry creature that makes luxury fibers for yarn, whilst sipping a latte and eating chocolates, please! 🙂

I work on hard concrete floors all day long. I have plantar fascitis and these shoes would be perfect for me! I had never heard of them before reading your tweet and blog. So excited now to try them! Fingers crossed you win but if not, you HAVE to try them. I’ve heard of people with plantar fasciitis that say these are the ONLY shoes they can wear. And the summer collection has a lower cost than their traditional clogs.
I love comfy shoes! These look incredible. I just spent 2 very long days at Disney and yes, it’s exhausting! But we had a blast. I would love some new comfy shoes to spoil my feet! I really like the look of the Dansko’s Sanibel Volley. I would love to try them out and see how comfortable they are. I would more than likely wear them on a park hike, taking my babies on a trek around Freedom Park or something similar. I choose the park, because a trip to Ireland is more than a bit out of my budget are a SAHM. 🙂

How well I remember reading “Ann Likes Red” with you and loved it. It was one of my favorite books also. Those were days to be cherished. Would love to try the shoes…checked out their website and can get them in Kids’ sizes also. Leaning towards the Vesta Purple Tie Dye or the conservative Sand canvas. Always seeking after comfy shoes.
I was shocked to find that you can still get that book. You can even get a special edition signed by the author! I want to get it but it seems foolish. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to find my “Let’s Go Shopping” book!

I like the veda … and I want to wear them to church with a fun matching skirt. May not sound fun to some of you, but church shoes are always so boring!

I would totally wear the VOLLEY AVOCADO HOPSACK – I love all shoes green, and don’t have enough yet. They would probably be my 90% shoes in the summer, meaning I’d wear them 90% of time all summer. Really cute.

I like the Volley in Red Canvas or Rose Floral Canvas. Although I think the Veda Black canvas would go great with the stuff I already wear normally. But who cares about that? Red Canvas! I’ve heard great things about Danskos but I’ve never owned any, hopeful they would be good for my arthritic feet.

The Scherbers
I like the veeda style because of the laces. I’m oddly drawn to the blue plaid canvas (though the black would get far more use) – probably because spring is approaching and I feel the need for bright colors in the spring. Where to wear them? A friend of mine is in Costa Rica now and she is posting pictures on fb. It looks beautiful, and I would love to go there.
I’m a slip-on kind of gal but I did love the Vedas as well. I say go for blue plaid canvas. You can wear them with white, khakis, jeans. I love to keep my clothes simple and then spice it up with accessories. Oh, and I’ll take me and my shoes with you to Costa Rica!
How can one decide. I’m so torn between the Volley Red and Volley Navy Sanibel. And where would I wear them, every where. Heck if they were truly water resistant with the Dansko Suede and Nubuck Spray I might even wear them in the shower so my feet always look pretty, comfortable, and I wouldn’t have to fear falling since they the slip resistant rubber outsole.
I can’t guarantee the water resistance so I’ll have to leave you to your own devices when it comes to wearing them in the shower. I think red and navy are excellent choices but you know, of course, I’m partial to red 😉
I would have to go with the Volley Navy canvas. I’m a Canvas girl in a crazy world. I would love to wear these bad boys while pushing my boys in their double stroller on the 20 minute walk through Laranjeiras, Rio de Janeiro. We go on this walk twice a week to morning beach soccer practice. They’d be prefect because I’d get the support for my walk but can easily slip them off and go play in the sand.
THAT’S what I love about them. They are full shoes but don’t constrict your feet and slip off so easily! Navy is an awesome choice!

OMG, I am LOVING the Veda in the Blue Plaid Canvas! Too cute! And I would wear these suckers EVERYWHERE! I’d probably even wear them to church — on the rare occasions that I go.
But if I could wear them absolutely ANYWHERE, I would wear them around Car d’ Alene, here in North Idaho. On Friday, there’s a parade of classic cars, but Saturday, there are five blocks of car shows lined up, booths, raffles, entertainment and more. But every year I go, my feet are killing me by halfway through the day!

Oh Molly. These shoes are SO you. Seriously. You have to get some. And they would be perfect for your Disney trip. Cute and comfortable. I have flat feet and my feet get tired easily and these held up so well for me.

I already have “liked” Dansko on FB and I visit their website daily to look at these shoes!! I have the khaki ones, but I really want the RED ones. I am SUCH a shoe lover! Finding something that is adorable AND comfortable is quite the challenge, so I am excited to possibly try these! For summer, I would want non-lace shoes to deal with, so I say the Volley style. Being that red is my favorite color (which makes me like you even more) I’m going to have to ask for the very ones on your own feet. LoL
Where I would most like to wear these shoes? On FRIDAYS TO SCHOOL! By the end of the week, my feet HATE ME! On jeans days, our shoes are allowed to be slightly more casual so THESE would be PERFECT!
They sound perfect for you! Like I mentioned in my video (which I’m sure you watched), I was able to wear them casually around Disney all day and still look fashionable enough to wear them to dinner in the evenings. And you’re feel would love you again.

I have a 10 year old pair of Dansko clogs that I can’t give up. Funny enough I was just looking at these this past weekend. I’d love the Volley Sand Canvas they look awesome! I’d love to wear these on a trip we are taking to Santa Monica. We always do a ton of walking so great supportive shoes is a top priority when packing for a long weekend away (which may include a day at Disneyland)!!!

Dansko Rocks! I love the blue floral volleys. I would wear them everywhere – especially places I have to walk or stand for long periods of time. Perfect for an afternoon with the kids at the zoo!

I have been COVETING the Veda in red canvas for weeks. My coworker, who is a total jerk, has a seemingly endless wardrobe of Danskos and says “Oh, you HAVE to get a pair.” We are on our feet for eight or nine hours every day, literally never sitting down, and I’m all like “Duh. Why don’t you buy them for me, then?” So far, no Danskos.
