It’s a holiday weekend for those of us stateside (like how I assume I have a ton of international readers?) Yes, we are celebrating the birth of our nation. Meanwhile, I’m counting down until our foodfest begins and just waiting to hear how many idiots will start fires with their fireworks (we’re living in extremely dry conditions right now).
Holidays aside, I do not take breaks from writing. And I most certainly do not “forget” to write. Okay. Yes, I did. But even on holiday weekends, our brains need a place to dump. My post today was a true Sunday morning brain dump. Enjoy!

Hey, guess what happens when you kinda sorta “unplug” for the day? Actually it’s more than just the unplugging. What I’m saying is this is kind of late for me to be posting my Stream of consciousness. So what you’re getting this morning is my OH MAN I JUST WOKE UP AND FORGOT TO DO MY POST! Followed by “Wait, it is Sunday, right?”
I swear, these days I”m in a perpetual state of fatigue. A few weeks ago, my husband was bitten by a tick and the bite started to look pretty bad. Turns out is was a bite from a lyme disease infected tick. He’s been on heavy duty antibiotics for weeks now.
But one of the major symptoms is fatigue. So of course, I keep telling myself, Maybe I got bit by a tick? Maybe that explains my extreme fatigue. But deep down, I really don’t think so. I think it’s a combination of going to bed too late, getting up too early, broken sleep. You know the drill, right?
Lately, my late sleeping son has decided to get up at 7:30 am every morning. I know other moms are thinking “Yeah, what’s new about that?” I’ve somehow conditioned my son to sleep late. The tradeoff is he goes to bed kind of late. So typically, he gets to sleep around 10pm. Then he sleeps until 8:30. A perfectly respectable time. Lately he doesn’t go to bed until 10 or 11 (like he won’t fall asleep before then) and he shoots out of bed at 7 or 7:30am. That doesn’t sound like enough sleep for a kid, does it?
Yes, I know an overtired kid will wake up early. But he doesn’t nap and won’t fall asleep. All I know is that mom is not getting enough sleep. Coupled with 2 pets that seem to miss me terrible every time I go away. So when I’m home, my dog wakes me up in the middle of the night with extremely loud panting. And my cat decides she’s going to meow and purr until I pet her. I think I’ve started doing it subconsciously because these days I only have faint memories of petting her in the middle of the night.
And that is why I’m late posting this morning. How’s your Sunday?

It never ceases to amaze me how often our posts relate.
Perhaps I’m an intuitive. But I should know that already if I were.
I know the feeling all to well lately of not enough sleep… but I don’t have all of the things you have to take me away from it. I just have my lack of self-discipline. 🙂 I hope you get some very restful sleep very very soon.
I wonder if you at least have the weekends to look forward to for catching up on sleep. I used to live for the weekends! Once I became a mom, the weekends had no meaning 🙁
It’s ok to be late.I am at a flea market and am using my iPad for the first time to post something & honestly thought I wasn’t going to figure it out!! And I am tired because my little one decided to wake up at 4am for a feeding! Happy Sunday, PS-first time participating in SOC….love it!
Here’s to tired, happy writing. Glad you linked up!!
I wish I could blame my fatigue on a bite but alas, it is not. I can’t get to bed before 11 and then I have two children that take turns waking up until 6:45 when it’s time to truly get up and at em. So yes, I know your fatigue. I know it to well!
You know it more than me. If my guy wakes up at 6:45, I’d grumble, turn on the TV, and go back to bed!
Bless your heart…..all of that sounds distracting as hell!
You would think I’d be used to the chaos by now!
You’re totally entitled to an off day. We all get a little off every now and then 🙂
I never said I was “off.” I just forgot 🙂
I know that drill! I also know the fatigue deal too, it’s no fun and kids and animals don’t understand or halfway care.
Especially when kids and animals seem to have endless amounts of energy.
Hope you are able to get some more sleep soon. And, I hope your husband feels better soon too. We have a friend who was bitten by a Lyme tick while she was pregnant, but didn’t realize it until after she delivered which was way too late for the antibiotics to help.
Oh yikes! I thought it was so rare until I got bitten by one. If you don’t see the bite, it can take years to diagnose!
I posted mine last night but saw yours wasn’t here yet. I was very excited to be on the ball for a change, so I totally 100% know what you mean about being behind. It’s all good. 🙂 Happy Sunday, Fadra! 🙂
Okay, rub it in. Remind me how I just fell down on the job. Glad you linked up though!
No! No! I just figured you did it in the AM, like a normal person. 😉 Unlike me who was up wayyy too late! 😛
Our cat used to own prime real estate on our bed. Since the TinyOne has come home, the poor guy gets jostled around more than he would like. I half-woke up the other night and he was sitting on my chest staring down at me. Poor guy just wanted his snuggles…so I too have resorted to “sleep petting.”
So I’m not the only one! I love that term: sleep petting. Now if we can just transition to sleeping…
