Doesn’t that totally sound like the name of an informercial?
You, too, can feel beautiful in only 20 minutes a day for the low, low price of 19.99. Act now, and we’ll make you feel twice as beautiful AT NO EXTRA COST.
It’s not a come on. It’s merely me, talking about a few beauty products (compliments of P&G), and sharing my own personal “beauty” routine, for lack of a better word.
Now, I know you are all very beautiful people on the inside. And I know that’s where real beauty lies. But let’s face it. It feels good to feel good on the outside too.
As a mom, I often hear how our appearance gets neglected. It’s not that we don’t care. It’s that we seem to have so little time and energy that it ends up really, really low on the priority list.
I’ll admit that I, too, have had days when I can’t remember the last time I showered. And I don’t have a newborn to blame it on anymore. In fact, it’s been five years since I had a newborn so I really don’t have any excuse, other than laziness and the desire to sleep later in the morning.
But the reality is that it doesn’t take me very long to get to a point where I feel good when I look in the mirror. In fact, I sat down and recorded exactly how long it took me to feel good. It was exactly one hour.
ONE HOUR???
I know. One hour in personal time is like seven hours in mom time.
Every so often, I take a spa day where I get a little extra time in the bathroom and I take a long luxurious soak. So, of that one hour, forty minutes was spent soaking in the tub. Twenty minutes was all I really needed. Take a look at seven of those twenty minutes and see if it differs from your morning beauty routine.
And, these weren’t just any old products. These are award-winning products. Products that magazine beauty editors and the like think are the best of the best. I dug in.

Morning blow-dry tip for my fine hair, section-it off with four or five clips right out the shower & let it dry like that while doing my make-up. Then only allow the blow-dyer to reach one section at a time instead of fluffing-up my whole head of hair at once. Living in a humid climate, this technique cuts back on frizziness and results in a sleeker, longer-lasting look which takes much less time than the whole head approach. Try it!
I thought I tried it but now that I re-read it, I think I need to do it again. I don’t usually worry about frizziness. I’ll take fluffiness!
Love the tips…pretty much do the same thing, except…..I’ve been blessed with wavy/curly hair. A blessing that I’ve just now come to embrace..I know, I know! For the past 40+ years I’ve been blow drying straight my hair and one day decided to forgo the 20 minutes it took. I shampoo the scalp, condition the hair from the ends up and then scrunch dry. I apply Paul Mitchell’s skinny serum and make curly cue’s all around. Done! Depending on the humidity level and how good my hair looks I can even get away with washing it every other day. Just pouf. I’ve tried Paul Mitchel’s curly hair gel, but it leaves a stiff residue.
It’s always the way. The girl with curly hair wants straight hair and vice versa. I’d love maintenance-free hair!
Tinted moisturizer is my must-have product. Goes on quickly and I don’t have to do the rest of my face if I don’t have time. But gives some coverage.
Perhaps I should use more coverage on my face but I’m really picky about my moisturizer. And always with an SPF!

I have super curly hair, that I never wear curly. I blow it out every time I wash my hair. The trick to not spend 30+ minutes blowing out my hair is showering as soon as I get up, and letting my hair almost completely air dry while I’m making lunches and having breakfast. Cuts my blow dry time to about 15 minutes.
I also recently switched to tinted primer + powder instead of foundation, makes the make up part of my morning routine a lot quicker.
Yay for giving up foundation. I prefer a more natural look. But man, I feel sorry for you having to blow dry super curly hair every day!
Skipping any and all make-up. But that’s probably not what you mean. 🙂
I skip popping my contacts in straight away. Because my eyes don’t need them yet and it gives me some extra time, as well.
But when it comes to beauty, I’d say that splashing cold water on my face in the AM, minus any lotions or soaps or whatever else is the best trick I’ve got. It wakes me and my skin up. Does that count?
Of course it counts! And I only wear make up because it makes ME feel better about how I look. If it’s not your thing, good for you!

I always wear mascara. I have puny eyelashes. And always always… Moroccon Hair Oil to keep the hair from looking electrified.
I have puny lashes too and if I had to choose, I’d pick mascara and lip gloss only. And oil on my hair? Yeah. I’d look like I hadn’t showered in 7 days!

I loved your video! Definitely took notes on the hair part because mine is just a mess.
I wish I weren’t so nervous about liquid liner, but I take a slanted brow brush, dip it in water, then dip that in brown eye shadow and use that to line my lids. I feel like I have better control and just use a damp q-tip to fix any accidental racoon eyes that might occur from pushing the brush too hard.
The only reason I started with liquid is because the pencil liners always wore off. The liquid liners stay put but you better be sure of the line you make! It really does take practice and small gentle strokes.
I don’t have any beauty secrets. I do like Smith’s Rosebud lip balm, though!
I think what we put on our lips is important!
Texturizing cream is my new beauty secret. I just wash my hair, condition, towel dry, and rub it in. Done!
I think you have thickish wavy hair, right? I’ve always longed for wash and go. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever have it.
Great tips! LOVE Secret CS Sport – smells so good! My shortcut is to wash my hair at night – and let it airdry mostly before bed – then I put it up in a sock bun (yes, really) and in the a.m. after breakfast I make sure it’s all the way dry (using the dryer if necessary) – take my hair down and voila’ – I have texture and curls! I can leave it down or put it in a messy bun and it looks great!
I don’t think I have long enough hair for the sock bun but I’m dying to try it. The problem with fine hair is that the pieces that aren’t in the bun would be straight and flimsy. I may still try it!
My secret? I shower the night before. I don’t have to do it in the morning before work.
Sometimes I can do that. Other times, I just don’t feel clean unless I shower in the morning,
So funny… I finally discovered the irony of the flatiron for straight fine hair. It is my fav thing now!!!!
I’ve told quite a few straight-haired women about it and they always look at me quizzically!
My shortcut is simply throw on some concealer over my redness, dust with powder, apply mascara and go. Takes me three minutes and I don’t feel like/look like an utter zombie. However, to do the regular face/hair etc, I definitely need more time.
That’s what I’m talking about. Just enough to make you feel good about how you look. Some mornings, I’m lucky if I put on lip gloss! (but I do 🙂 )

That is a great tip!! I have fine hair and never thought to do that. Thanks!
I use Bare Minerals ‘Well Rested’ concealer. I put it on under my eyes, around my nose and on any red spots. Apply blush and a colored lip gloss and I look alive.
That’s so simple and easy. Glowing skin and a little lip color and you can take on the world!
Olay Regenerist! I adore it!! I truly adore it.
I’ve used it before and I know people love it. Olay has really stepped up their game!

Bronzer and eyeliner. It takes approximately three minutes to put on, and I look like I put myself together much more than I did! Plus, the eyeliner helps my eyes look a little brighter instead of highlighting the exhaustion in them 🙂
Yes! I still can’t pinpoint why that little line on our eyelids make us look so much better but it does!

My favorite shortcut? Short hair. But with short hair there’s a makeup obligation, so it probably evens out in the end.
I have mixed feelings about short hair. But yes, I think more make up is required or you can look a little bit like a boy (that’s always my fear, anyway).
my beauty secret is the sock bun. I stsick my hair in it at night and by the morning I have beautiful curls. Saves a ton of time in the morning. I also love baby oil…I will slather that stuff on my legs and it just makes me feel pampered for some reason.
So that’s a second vote for a sock bun. You think it would work for my fine hair? I’m thinking no.
I like to shower at night so I don’t have to in the morning…. I’d probably be more awake in the morning if I showered then, though!
Seems a lot of people do that. I will do it sometimes to save time but I never feel quite as fresh and my hair NEVER looks as good. It is a timesaver though!

I like to mix a bit of moisturizer into foundation for a more sheer look, especially in the warmer weather.
