Why was this one so hard for me? We have done so many upgrades from flooring to cabinetry to paint. And I still couldn’t find that one thing that gets me excited. Maybe that’s a good thing since we’re moving sometime in the next few months?
I guess this photo just goes to show that it’s not so much the house, but how you personalize the house, that makes it yours.
I don’t remember where I bought this iron turtle but I temporarily sat it in the corner of my front porch until I could figure out where to put it. And there it has remained for years and years.
You can put a candle in it which I think I did for Halloween night. But I love the way the rusty iron contrasts the brick we picked for our house. Because we had our house built, we got to pick our every option imaginable. I picked a light brick because I loved the antique look of it.
And there you have it. What I love about my house: brick and turtle.
If you haven’t stopped to Capture the Everyday in your life, I encourage you to find a theme like this and snap a few photos. You’ll be glad you did years later!

that is all
I LOVE that turtle. Turtles in general are pretty awesome too
Adorable… AND it holds a candle? Sweet!
Very nice. And an awesome way to think outside of the box when finding something!!
Huh. House ambivalence must be in the bloggy-air.
I don’t even have any cool house tchochkes to take a picture of. Scott is anti-stuff. Darn minimalist…
My mom and dad have had a rusty iron goldfish for years. I’ve always loved it! And now I want a turtle.
LOVE the turtle. He’s such a cute. Have the kids named him?
I like the turtle – it’s got character!
